Questions and answers
What is Antakshari Online?
Antakshari Online is a free browser game at antakshari.online where you play word-chain Antakshari with friends or random opponents. Each valid English word must start with the required letter, words cannot repeat in a match, and a turn timer keeps rounds moving.
Is this the same as singing Antakshari?
Classic Antakshari is usually about songs. Word Antakshari keeps the familiar last-letter chain rule but uses English words so the game can validate answers automatically and score points in real time.
Is the game free?
Yes. You can sign in with Google or play as a guest. Creating rooms, joining with a code, and using random matchmaking are all free in the browser—no app install required.
How do I start playing?
Open the home page, choose Google sign-in or guest mode, pick Word Antakshari or Word Scramble, then create a room, join with a code, or queue for a random match from the lobby.
Can I play on mobile?
Yes. The interface is responsive and touch-friendly, so phones and tablets work for joining rooms and submitting words during live matches.
How does scoring work?
In Word Antakshari, a correct word on your turn earns one point. In Word Scramble, solving the jumbled word before time runs out earns one point. Team modes track roster scores separately, and the leaderboard records wins and total score over time.
What game modes are available?
There are two modes: Word Antakshari (chain words by last letter) and Word Scramble (unscramble letters before the timer ends). Hosts can also restrict categories to places, fruits, vegetables, or movies.
Can I play with friends?
Yes. After signing in, create a room from the lobby and share the six-character room code. Friends can join from their own devices. You can also add friends and send game invites when signed in with Google.
How are words validated?
Submitted words are checked against a dictionary API with a local word list fallback. The game also blocks duplicates, wrong starting letters, and words outside the selected category when a category filter is active.
Can I replay a finished match?
When a match ends, the host can request a rematch. Other human players in the room must accept before the game restarts with fresh scores.
Does the website store my information?
If you sign in, Firebase stores your display name, gameplay stats, and room activity needed to run multiplayer features. Guest sessions use a temporary anonymous account. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
